The term ‘bottom of the pyramid’ was popularized by CK Prahalad in his book The Fortune at the Bottom of the Pyramid. It refers to the nearly 4.5 billion people worldwide who live on less than $2.50 a day. Individuals living at the bottom of the pyramid do not have access to the services and means to help improve their condition. In fact, nearly 1/2 the world is unbanked and over 800 million of them reside in South Asia.
FIA’s products and services directly impact the lives of those individuals at the bottom of the pyramid to bring them financial planning, investment and insurance products. By integrating technology, services and alliances, FIA works with underserved communities to enrich their livelihoods.
